Why you loose Followers on Instagram

It is a common thing to loose followers on Instagram, even the celebrities too loose followers, that is the way Instagram was programmed. But if you always loose many followers too often, one or more of the following could be the reason:

1. You use many of general hashtags: When you use general hashtags on your post, this can attract the wrong audience to see your post and if some of them were following you, they might unfollow you if they don't like that particular post or for any other reason. Yes! you will get many likes on that post, but you will also stand a possibility of loosing some followers. So it's up to you to decide which will favor you more. If the post is for sales, then you need to use the right hashtags. If you sell Ankara bags in Nigeria for instance and you don't ship abroad, then avoid using #bags, or #handbags because these will attract foreigners who were online at that time you made the post and who have used the same hashtags on their post. Rather, you can use #ankarabags #ankara #naijaankarabags etc. That will attract the right audience and prevent you from loosing followers.


2. You suddenly disappeared from Instagram for too long: If you used to be very active on Instagram and you suddenly disappeared for up to 24 hours or more, these can make you loose followers that period. That is how Instagram was programmed, and the solution is to remain active as often as possible.


3. You use the same hashtags with most foreigners: This is similar to what I explained in number one; using a general Hashtag. But in this case, when you use the same hashtags that most foreigners use, they will see your post if they are online at the time you posted, and will follow and unfollow you. Most foreigners are like that. They will follow you so that you can follow them back and then later unfollow you. It is their strategy of gaining followers. But you can checkmate them by downloading the "follow cop" app from Google playstore if you use an android phone.


4. You follow account with very few followers: If you usually follow accounts with very few followers, it will make you loose one or two followers. That is also how Instagram was programmed, you probably can't do anything about it. If you must follow some people because you enjoy their contents or they look like potential customers then follow them, it doesn't matter if that make you loose one or two followers.


5. You usually do the popular follow and unfollow strategy: If you do the popular follow-and-unfollow strategy, whereby you follow accounts with too many followers and later unfollow them, You will gain many followers at that instant for following many accounts with many followers but once you stop using this strategy, you will start loosing followers too. Again, that is how Instagram was programmed, and the solution is to keep using the strategy and remain active on Instagram.
