7 WAYS TO ACHIEVE A GOAL

Anyone without a goal in life is like a lifeless human being. Setting a goal, and achieving that goal is something great to remember whenever it seems you are tired of living. No matter how small a goal is, it is always good to set one. A lot of people have many goals in life and this is what gives them hope for a better tomorrow. It is not enough  to set a goal, but how you plan to achieve that goal is much more important.

For instance, if you would like to obtain a graduate degree in the next 5 years, then how do you plan to achieve that goal? Here are some key points to consider when making plans for this example:


1. Do you have someone who will sponsor your education or are you gonna be your own sponsor?
   a. If you are going to sponsor yourself, do you already have the required money that can take care of all your fees and expenses till you graduate?
   b. If you don't have the required money, how are you gonna raise the money?

2. What do you plan to study and why did you choose such a course?

3. How passionate are you with the course you have chosen?

4. What school will you like to study in?

5. Can you afford the standard of living in such an environment?

6. When exactly do you plan to start your study?

Haven answered these questions carefully, this will guide you in making your plans to achieve such a goal. It is very difficult to set a goal and achieve it but with proper planning, it becomes a lot easier. it is important to bear in mind that for any set goal, there must be sacrifices to be made. You cannot plan to work and study simultaneously without giving up some hours of your sleep. You cannot make an excellent grade, if you also don't sacrifice some hours of your sleep to study. You cannot improve your standard of living if you don't make extra investments other than your usual means of livelihood.

One of the most difficult thing to sacrifice is your sleep, but the result is very rewarding! Your sleep has to pay the price for a lot of goals you would plan to achieve at any point in life. You can be awake making research on the internet or reading books that can help connect you with better opportunities. A lot of books have been written to help people achieve their goals. It is your duty to get your hands on those books and read them. Put into actions what you have learnt.

7 BASIC STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN YOU SET A GOAL:


1. Define your goal: You must know the reason why you want to achieve a particular goal because that becomes the force factor.

2. Make plans and document them: Without proper planning, it will be almost impossible to achieve your goal successfully. Document your plans. If you don't like writing, you can use your smart phone in recording your plans as you speak.

3. Strategize your plans: After you have documented your plans, you need to strategize them. For instance, if one of your plans is to finish reading a book about becoming successful, and you barely have time during the day because of the nature of your work and you will be too tired to read immediately you get back from work, you can strategize that you will need to go to bed early so that you can wake up earlier than your usual time and read the book. If the book contains 100 pages, and you set aside 1 hour every morning to read and you are able to read 10 pages in 1 hour, it means that you can finish reading the book in 10 days.

4. Discipline yourself: No matter how simple your set goal is, if you cannot be discipline to stick to your plans and strategies, you will barely achieve that goal. Discipline is active when you insist on going to bed at 10pm and waking up at 4am, and you stick to the plan. It takes discipline to forfeit spending the money you are suppose to use in buying a book to buy a nice T-shirt that you stumbled upon. Discipline is a very important value everyone should crave for.

5. Take stock of your plans: After a period of time, you need to check how successful your plans have been so far, do you need to change change strategies? Have you covered some milestones? When you have reviewed your plans and have taken stock, then you can decide whether to continue with your plans and strategies or if you need to modify/change them.

6. Be patient: Sometimes, even after you have done all you need to, you might still not get the desired result. But it should never give you a reason to give up on your goal. You must learn to be patient. Most successful people have tried many times, failed many times but eventually achieve success because they didn't give up.

7. Congratulate yourself: When you have finally achieve a goal, don't forget to congratulate yourself and if possible give yourself a special treat. You can even buy a gift for yourself as a reward for your achievement. It sounds funny though but it has a striking effect that unconsciously motivates you to set another goal and achieve it because each time you remember the reward you gave yourself, you just can't wait to get another one.
